Scotty Nguyen
Thuan (Scotty) Nguyen came to the U.S. from South Vietnam in 1979 at the age of 14. Scotty began his journey as a dealer. Dealing to some of the greats in the game, he was able to study the play of some great players and study how they play. Once he went professional, he quickly progressed up through the ranks. The consummate showman, in the 1998 WSOP Main Event, he warned Kevin McBride “If you call this one, it’s all over baby!” Scotty was quite serious; with the board showing a full house he turned over a bigger full house and knocked McBride out of the tournament to win the event. Nguyen has four World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets to his name, and is regarded as one of the toughest opponents in the world. In January, 2006, he won his first World Poker Tour (WPT) title defeating Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi heads-up in the fourth season Gold Strike World Poker Open. His aggressive and successful style of play have made Scotty Nguyen one of the most feared men in poker.
